ABOUT US
FOR THE CHILDREN FOUNDATION (FTC),
is an IRS approved non-profit, located in Scottsdale, AZ. FTC is not affiliated
with any religion or political perspective.
The mission of FTC is to
globally transform children’s
lives through fostering the
individual worth and purpose of
every child by promoting
positive messages, productions
and programs that inspire,
uplift, and nurture the Spirit
of children and all people that
impact children, and to
compassionately serve those in
need.
Life has changed dramatically
for children in the past fifty
years. It is lived at an
accelerated pace with more
demands on parents and children,
frequent exposure to trauma and
violence, and increasingly
intense experiences in all areas
of life. The family structure
has changed for a great many.
Divorce, Step Families, Single
Parent Homes, Dual Careers, and
Multiple Re-locations during
childhood have dramatically
altered the experience of
growing up in today’s
world. This
disconnectedness is occurring
with less time for interactions
between parents and their
children.
Life has also changed for
parents. There are far more
demands on our time. We are
expected to ignore the clock if
we want to get ahead. We live
further from work requiring long
commutes. Many no longer enjoy
the support of extended family.
The media has become a
significant teacher to our
children and youth often
delivering messages that aren’t
consistent with parents’
teachings.
In the past, children were
taught about appropriate
behavior by their parents and
other adults in their families.
These messages were often
reinforced by churches, schools
and neighbors. Communities
enjoyed a shared sense of right
and wrong. However, during the
past fifty years, all of the
above cultural changes have
negatively impacted the
parent/child relationship.
There has been much finger
pointing as to who/what is to
blame. Undoubtedly, all of the
above are potential factors.
There is agreement that to be a
child today is widely different
than even a generation ago.
Parents often feel ill equipped
to help their children grow up
safely and with appropriate
values. Children are growing up
too quickly with the innocence
of childhood lost. Parents,
teachers, corporations, and
policy makers are seeking
answers to the difficult
questions that arise around
raising our children.
We, at For The Children, believe
that to successfully change
specific behaviors, we must look
at the full context of
children’s lives. Changing
lives means changing hearts.
We believe a positive focus is
the most effective way in which
to find the solutions we seek.
We must find new, individualized
approach-es to realize the
changes we envision. FTC is
guided by the eloquent words of
Albert Einstein: “Problems
cannot be solved at the same
level of awareness that created
them.” We feel the
programs and methods we are
promoting will help to create
the world we intend.
